Our Winemaker

Véronique Torcolacci is our modest, but hugely enthusiastic and talented Head Winemaker. She is responsible for the quality and style of La Châsse and leads a team of equally devoted winemakers and viticulturalists. Ever since her parents first taught her to appreciate the pleasures of wine, it has been her passion. This passion made her decide not to follow their wishes to become a school teacher and she studied Oenology instead. Véronique’s career at Gabriel Meffre began in 1992 when she was hired as Quality Manager. With experience, she has established a group of around 30 selected growers who supply the grapes and wines that she and her team use to create the award-winning La Châsse range.

Wine Growers

An essential element to the success of La Châsse is the network of dedicated wine growers who supply the raw materials. Véronique’s team follows the growers across the Rhône Valley and Languedoc regions of southern France. She covers up to 2000km a week during harvest! 70% of the suppliers have been associated with La Châsse since its launch in 1994. They have to supply not only grapes of the right quality, but also that are typical of the terroir. Their philosophy has to be aligned – constant improvement and a long-term view as well as a strong respect for the environment.

Our Winemaker

Véronique loves the diversity and responsibility of her position, working hand in hand with the growers creating wines to match the desires of customers around the world. When she occasionally escapes the Gigondas wine cellars for a holiday, she pursues her other passion, photography, and usually ends up visiting local wineries!
